2027 Subaru Outback Price Overview
The 2027 Subaru Outback price starts at $32,995, which is $2,000 below the outgoing entry price. Subaru of America announced the lineup on Oct. 22, 2026, and added a new base trim to get there, according to Subaru’s release.
Prices fell across most of the range. Subaru says the average cut is about $1,000 across most trims, and the five trims with a cut fell between $770 and $1,900. Still, the Premium holds at $34,995. Meanwhile, the Wilderness drops $1,000 to $43,995.
This guide covers every trim and the cost with the $1,545 destination fee. It also pits the Wilderness against the Limited XT. Subaru says the Outback reaches retailers later this year.
Some car campers sleep in the back, and the next section covers the Outback’s 80.5 cubic feet of cargo space. For example, the Therm-a-Rest Z Lite Sol, NEMO Switchback, and TETON Outfitter XL are foam sleeping mats rated 4.6 stars on Amazon.

What the Subaru Outback Base Model Includes
The entry trim carries more equipment than past base Outbacks. For example, Subaru lists a 12.1-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, EyeSight driver assistance, and a power rear gate as standard.
Power comes from a 2.5-liter, 180-horsepower Boxer engine and a CVT. Also, Symmetrical all-wheel drive is standard, and so is X-MODE with Hill Descent Control, like the rest of the Outback lineup. Next, read how hill descent control works if the feature is new to you.
Meanwhile, ground clearance measures 8.7 inches. The roof rails carry an 800-pound static load, and the base trim tows up to 2,700 pounds when properly equipped. However, Subaru lists the figure as a static load capacity. Therefore, check the moving limit in your owner’s manual before you mount a rooftop tent.
Cargo space reaches 34.6 cubic feet behind the second row. Then folding the 60/40 rear seats raises it to 80.5 cubic feet. Specifically, Subaru says the Outback offers plenty of room for gear.
2027 Subaru Outback Price by Trim

Because Subaru lists price changes in dollars, the table below shows each 2027 MSRP, the cut from 2026, and the cost with destination. Adding the cuts back puts the 2026 Limited at $41,715 and the Touring at $45,395.
| Trim | 2027 MSRP | Change vs. 2026 | With $1,545 destination |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base | $32,995 | New trim | $34,540 |
| Premium | $34,995 | No change | $36,540 |
| Limited | $39,995 | -$1,720 | $41,540 |
| Touring | $43,495 | -$1,900 | $45,040 |
| Limited XT | $43,595 | -$770 | $45,140 |
| Wilderness | $43,995 | -$1,000 | $45,540 |
| Touring XT | $46,595 | -$1,400 | $48,140 |
Specifically, the Touring and Limited saw the largest cuts. Meanwhile, the Premium stays flat, and the base trim has no 2026 twin. Subaru says destination fees might differ in CT, HI, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, and VT. Alaska retailers charge $1,695.
2027 Subaru Outback Wilderness vs. Limited XT
The 2027 Subaru Outback Wilderness starts at $43,995, only $400 above the Limited XT at $43,595. Both also use a turbocharged 2.4-liter Boxer engine. Since the gap is small, the choice comes down to where you drive. For background on the badge, see our earlier Outback Wilderness overview.
The Wilderness offers 9.5 inches of ground clearance, 0.8 inch more than the base trim. It also gets electronically controlled adaptive dampers and Dual-Mode X-MODE with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings. Underbody protection and 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires round out the hardware. Subaru also calls the Wilderness the off-road-focused trim.
The Limited XT puts its 2027 changes into driver aids instead. For 2027 it also gains standard Highway Hands-Free Assist, Emergency Stop Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Pre-Curve Speed Control, and Automatic Resume Assist.
Through an options package, the Wilderness offers Highway Hands-Free Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, and Emergency Stop Assist. The $5,090 package also adds Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, power seats, a moonroof, navigation, and a surround view monitor. With the package, the Wilderness therefore reaches $49,085 MSRP.
2027 Subaru Outback Colors and Release Timing
After you pick a trim, color is next. Three colors are new for 2027: Sand Dune Pearl, Daybreak Blue Pearl, and Snowfall White Silica, which is all-new. Geyser Blue and Sand Dune Pearl are exclusive to the Wilderness.
Meanwhile, premium paint costs $395 on Deep Emerald Green, River Rock Pearl, Sand Dune Pearl, Daybreak Blue Pearl, and Snowfall White Silica. Finally, Subaru builds the 2027 Outback in Gunma, Japan. Retailers nationwide get it later this year, but the release gives no exact date.
What the 2027 Subaru Outback Price Means for You
Sticker price is not your price. Add the $1,545 destination fee, and the base Outback costs $34,540, while the Wilderness costs $45,540. Then taxes and dealer fees come on top.
If you want an all-wheel-drive Outback for forest roads and campsites, the base trim now covers the basics. Specifically, it has X-MODE, 8.7 inches of clearance, and roof rails for $32,995. On the other hand, you give up the turbo engine and the Wilderness suspension. Unsure whether AWD is enough for your trails? Read AWD versus 4WD for off-roading.
For rougher trails, the Subaru Outback Wilderness price of $43,995 buys the clearance, tires, and underbody protection. The Limited XT costs $400 less and keeps its 19-inch wheels. Working back from Subaru’s cuts, the gap was $630 in 2026, so the Wilderness premium shrank by $230.
The Touring and Limited took the largest cuts, $1,900 and $1,720. If you were waiting for a price drop, start there. In contrast, the Premium did not move. It adds StarTex upholstery and a 10-way power driver’s seat over the base trim.
Tires add to the sticker math. The base trim rides on all-season tires, while the Wilderness price already includes all-terrain rubber. Our BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain T/A+ article lists the Outback among the crossovers it suits. It also explains the trade-offs.
Wilderness all-terrain tires and base trim all-season tires both benefit from correct air pressure on rough roads. Therefore, the VIAIR 88P, ARB E-Z Deflator, and X-BULL Traction Tracks cover inflation, deflation, and traction.

Final Thoughts
I like what Subaru did here. A $32,995 Outback with all-wheel drive and X-MODE puts forest-road trips within reach of more budgets. Also, five other trims got cheaper, so most of the lineup costs less.
For off-road use, I’d point you to the Wilderness. The $400 gap to the Limited XT pays for 9.5 inches of clearance and the adaptive dampers. Meanwhile, with destination, the two sit at $45,540 and $45,140, so the gap stays small. If your miles are mostly highway, the Limited XT and its standard driver aids earn a look.
Also, this pricing story rests on Subaru’s published numbers, not a test drive. Wait for real-world reviews before you sign, and ask your retailer for an arrival window now. If you are cross-shopping, compare our 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport pricing next.
