Overview
The 2027 Jeep Wrangler brings more standard equipment to several trims and a new set of late-arrival paints. Jeep detailed the lineup in its 2027 model-year release, and orders are open now. Rubicon models gain heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and embedded navigation. Meanwhile, Sport, Sport S and Willys models gain a 7-inch TFT color instrument cluster.
Capability figures in the release include a 47.4-degree approach angle, a 40.4-degree departure angle and a 32.4-degree breakover angle. Jeep also cites up to 12.9 inches of ground clearance and up to 34 inches of water fording. According to Jeep’s website, the two-door Sport starts at $36,635 before destination.
I have owned five Jeeps, two of them Wranglers, and keep a lasting soft spot for the brand. For this reason, I judge a model-year update by one question: what do you get for your money? In this case, the answer is mostly equipment Jeep now lists as standard.
Approach and departure angles get you onto an obstacle, but they do not get you out of soft ground. Recovery gear does, so the picks below cover traction boards, a recovery rope and a soft shackle. Since none of these items depends on model year, match the ratings to your own vehicle.

What Changes Across 2027 Jeep Wrangler Trims
Jeep’s release lists eight trims for 2027: Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X, Willys 392 and Moab 392. Notably, Sahara, Willys 392 and Moab 392 come in four-door form only. The table shows what Jeep lists as new on each group of Wrangler trims.
| Trim | New standard equipment for 2027 |
|---|---|
| Sport | 7-inch TFT color instrument cluster |
| Sport S | 7-inch TFT cluster and passive entry |
| Willys | 7-inch TFT cluster and passive entry; the two-door gains the vented power dome hood |
| Sahara (four-door) | McKinley trimmed seats, side steps, Alpine audio, navigation, park assist, blind spot detection, TrailCam and more |
| Rubicon models | Heated front seats, heated steering wheel and embedded navigation |
Sahara gets the largest change by item count, with ten features listed as standard. Specifically, they are McKinley trimmed seats, side steps, nine-speaker Alpine premium audio, embedded navigation and rear park assist. Also included are blind spot and cross path detection, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, auto high-beam headlights, a universal garage door opener and a front off-road TrailCam.
However, the Rubicon change matters for a different reason. Heat for the seats and wheel suits cold-weather use, and it arrives on Rubicon models.

Wrangler Colors and Twelve 4 Twelve Carry-Overs
Jeep names six paints with late availability: Gobi, Sting Gray, Hella Yella, Ghost, Fathom Blue and Gum 31. Its color list flags three of them as new: Ghost, Fathom Blue and Gum 31. Ghost and Gum 31 are first-ever Wrangler colors. Fathom Blue and Gum 31 are limited editions.
The list also includes Black, Bright White, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, Hydro Blue, Earl Grey, ’41 and Joose. Interior color is Black only. Because Jeep marks the six paints as late availability, ask your dealer when a build slot opens.
Five Twelve 4 Twelve special editions carry over: Moab 392, Willys 392, Whitecap, Rewind and Rockslide. Moab 392 and Willys 392 also appear in the trim list above. Our look at the Rewind retro edition covers one of them in detail. Two other editions sit outside the list. The Smoky Mountain Edition shows what a Willys-based special adds, and the Sarge edition has its own page.
2027 Jeep Wrangler vs. the 2026 Model Year
Price changes first. Jeep’s website lists the 2026 two-door Sport at $36,035 and the 2027 version at $36,635, both before destination. The gap is $600, or 1.7 percent. For 2026, destination was $1,995, so confirm the 2027 destination charge with your dealer.
Equipment changes too. Jeep lists the digital cluster, the ten-feature Sahara group and the Rubicon heat and navigation as new standard equipment for 2027. However, Jeep does not say how much of the $600 covers the new cluster, so its price stays unknown.
Engines, 4×4 Systems and Tow Rating
Jeep lists three engines. The 2.0-liter turbo I-4 makes 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque with an eight-speed automatic. Meanwhile, the 3.6-liter V-6 delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft, paired with a six-speed manual or the eight-speed automatic. Finally, the 6.4-liter V-8 produces 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft with the eight-speed automatic.
Four 4×4 systems are listed: Command-Trac, Rock-Trac in part-time and full-time forms, and Selec-Trac full-time. Jeep also gives crawl ratios up to 100:1 and a 5,000-pound maximum tow rating when properly equipped. For engine background, see our turbo versus Pentastar comparison.
Crawl ratios up to 100:1 suit slow trail work, and slow trail work starts with airing down. A tire deflator, a pressure gauge and a portable compressor handle the job. The picks below cover each. Check the compressor’s rating against your tire size before you buy.

What This Means for You
Rubicon shoppers get the clearest gain. Having owned two Wranglers, I rate the heated seats and wheel as the most useful change on the list. For example, heat matters most on cold mornings at a trailhead or in camp. The Rubicon is the trim built for those trips.
Sport shoppers pay $600 more at the base price, or 1.7 percent, and receive a digital cluster. Both Sport S and Willys gain it too. Sahara shoppers get ten features as standard. If you want a manual, only the 3.6-liter V-6 offers one, so the turbo and the V-8 are automatic only.
Paint brings a timing risk. Because all six colors carry late availability, a buyer who wants Ghost or Gum 31 should place the order early and confirm the build window in writing.
Final Thoughts
The 2027 Jeep Wrangler is an equipment update, not a redesign. Its strongest change is the Rubicon heat and navigation, and its largest by item count is the Sahara group. My own pick from this list would be a Rubicon, since heat and navigation now come standard.
So what do you get for your money? Mostly standard equipment. The trade-offs are small: the base price rises $600 and the new paints arrive late. Jeep’s release lists no powertrain changes, so a 2026 owner gains little by trading.
If you also shop the Bronco, compare its 2027 changes before you sign. Either way, order early and check your dealer’s build window.
