Overview of the Countryman Untamed Edition
The 2027 MINI Countryman Untamed Edition is a lifted, all-terrain-tire version of MINI’s largest model. According to MINI USA’s press release, US buyers get two versions: the Countryman S ALL4 and the electric SE ALL4. MINI prices the gas-powered S ALL4 at $43,900 before $1,350 for destination, and deliveries start in early 2027.
The package adds a 0.6-inch lift, 19-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, underbody protection and a standard trailer hitch. However, MINI still builds the car around ALL4 all-wheel drive, so treat it as a gravel-road and snow tool. Notably, MINI published no total ground clearance figure.
MINI teased an adventure-oriented variant when it entered its first Rebelle Rally, and it promised a reveal before the event. The timing points to this edition, but the release never mentions the rally. For the entry list, see MINI’s Rebelle Rally debut.
MINI also built an outdoor collection, with an AUTOHOME roof tent and Helinox folding chairs and tables. The release does not name the Helinox products, and Helinox already sells camp furniture in the US. Our best overlanding camp chairs guide covers the options.
The grid below lists the Helinox Chair One, Chair Zero and Chair One Highback, all on sale now. Expect differences from MINI’s collection.

What the Countryman Suspension Lift and Tires Change
First, the lift itself measures about 0.6 inch. With the new wheels and tires, MINI says ground clearance rises by up to 0.75 inch. Also, the gain varies by market and powertrain. MINI also optimized the approach and breakover angles but gave no figures.
The tires matter more than the lift. Tread changes grip on gravel and snow, while 0.6 inch of height changes little. The edition rides on Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires and exclusive 19-inch Untamed Edition Spoke wheels. MINI calls the tires newly developed. However, the release gives no tire size. MINI also recalibrated the ABS, stability control and steering for the new setup.
Textured protective films cover the wheel arches, side sills and hood.
US Price Math for the Countryman Untamed Edition
MINI lists the 2027 Countryman S ALL4 at $38,900. Adding the $3,400 Iconic Trim with Comfort Package Plus and $1,600 of Untamed content brings the total to $43,900. Destination adds $1,350, so you pay $45,250 before options.
As a result, the edition’s own content costs $1,600, and the trim package sits inside the $43,900 figure. Against the $38,900 base price, the gap is $5,000. Options include the Comfort Package Max at $900, a garage door opener at $250 and a Space-Saver Spare at $300. MINI has not announced the SE ALL4 price.
US vs. Europe: Where the Lift and Tires Come Standard
Every US and Canadian Untamed gets the lift, while Europe gets it only on electric versions. The all-terrain tires are standard in North America but optional in Europe. As a result, US buyers get the full package without checking option boxes, while European gas-car buyers get no lift.
Towing, Roof Load and the Countryman Roof Tent

US cars get a factory hitch as standard, and MINI rates the towing limit at 3,500 pounds. However, roof load needs more care. MINI rates the roof at 165 pounds while driving and 661 pounds parked.
A Countryman roof tent must weigh well under 165 pounds on the road. Next, ask whether MINI’s ratings include the rack and sleeping adults. AUTOHOME handcrafts the tent in Italy. It also opens on gas struts and has a glass-fiber hard shell. MINI offers it separately and has not published its weight or price. MINI Untamed vs. Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness
The 2027 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness is the Untamed’s nearest rival with a factory lift and all-terrain tires. It costs $33,795 plus $1,475 destination, which is $9,980 less than the MINI’s $45,250. The standard S ALL4 makes 241 horsepower against the Subaru’s 180.
| Specification | MINI S ALL4 Untamed | Crosstrek Wilderness |
|---|---|---|
| Price before destination | $43,900 | $33,795 |
| Power and torque | 241 hp, 295 lb-ft (standard S ALL4) | 180 hp, 178 lb-ft |
| Ground clearance | Not published | 9.3 inches |
| Tires | All-terrain, 19-inch wheels | Yokohama Geolandar, 17-inch wheels |
| Towing | 3,500 pounds | 3,500 pounds |
Ground clearance is the open question. Subaru lists 9.3 inches, while MINI lists none for the Untamed. Since 17-inch wheels usually leave more sidewall than 19s, the Subaru also has an edge on rough trails. Toyota used the same recipe with the Grand Highlander Woodland’s half-inch lift. Our Crosstrek review covers the Subaru in detail.
What Owners of the Earlier Countryman Say
We searched owner forums and reviews and found no reaction to this edition, which MINI revealed October 6. The 2023 Untamed was a $1,500 styling package with no lift, so current Countryman owners and reviewers are the closest evidence. Reviewers and owners praise the handling and the cabin, and they like the cargo space for the size.
MotoringFile found ALL4 handled most Chicago winter conditions on all-season tires, although deep snow and ice beat it. Meanwhile, Hagerty listed 6.5 inches of clearance on the earlier car. Edmunds calls the ride firm, and some owners report software glitches and mixed reliability. Some MINI owners also blame run-flat tires for the firm ride.
I’d treat the Untamed as a snow and gravel-road car, not a trail rig. A 0.6-inch lift is a modest change.
Gravel and snow roads also raise the odds of a tread puncture. The Space-Saver Spare costs an extra $300, so plan your own tire repair. For example, a 12-volt compressor, a tire gauge and a plug kit cover small punctures.
The grid below lists the VIAIR 88P compressor, the Accutire MS-4021B gauge and the Slime 1034-A plug kit.

What This Means for You
Buyers who want a small crossover for gravel roads, ski trips and camping get useful hardware here. Specifically, it costs $1,600 over a similarly trimmed S ALL4. For real trail work, the Crosstrek Wilderness costs $9,980 less and lists 9.3 inches of clearance.
Before you order, ask MINI for the tire size and ground clearance. Tent buyers also need the tent weight, and EV buyers need the SE ALL4 price.
Final Thoughts
I like what MINI is doing here. A small crossover with a modest lift and all-terrain tires suits gravel roads, trailheads and snowy highways. Owners praise the Countryman’s handling and cabin, though I found no drive review of the Untamed yet.
A firm ride draws complaints, so I want to know how the Pirelli all-terrains feel. The $45,250 price looks fair if you value the hitch and the tires. For rougher roads, the Crosstrek Wilderness is the smarter buy.
Put the Untamed on your list if you want fun handling and room for camping gear. Then wait for a drive review before you sign.
