What GMC Removed From the 2027 Hummer EV Pickup
All five items left together, and GMC no longer sells any of them alone. The list covers a spare tire jack and tool kit (5Y2) and an Off-Road Recovery Kit (S1H). It also names an 18-inch black spare wheel with machine accents (SGX) and an 18-inch spare tire (SC9). Finally, a bed-mounted vertical spare carrier (SEP) completes the set.
GMC also sold the carrier on its own. According to GM Authority, the standalone passenger-side carrier (LPO SEL, $1,995) became unavailable during the 2026 model year. It had required the Readiness Package. A 2027 buyer has no factory-listed way to carry a full-size spare upright in the bed.
Size adds to the problem. GMC’s package page lists LT305/70R18 Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. By my math, this size stands about 35 inches tall. A matching spare is therefore a large tire to store. In addition, the two packages together added $13,990 to an order at the prices GM Authority lists.
What the Hummer EV Pickup Off-Road Package Keeps
Dropping the kit does not strip the truck’s capability gear. GM Authority and Off-Road.com both say the remaining Off-Road Package carries 18-inch wheels and mud-terrain tires. It also keeps underbody protection, locking differentials, underbody cameras, and rocker protectors with assist steps.
GMC’s own package page adds detail, although it still uses the old Extreme Off-Road name. It lists skid plates for the front differential, battery, and rear differential. The page also lists electronically locking front and rear differentials. In addition, it names forward and rearward underbody cameras and rear D-ring recovery hooks.
GMC warns owners never to use recovery hooks to tow a vehicle. The rear D-ring hooks belong to the remaining Off-Road Package. GMC’s dropped recovery kit is a separate item, and neither report lists its contents.
What This Means for You
Both reports cover 2027 orders. Neither addresses trucks already fitted with the package. If a matching spare matters to you, ask a dealer whether a 2026 truck carries RPO code PCH.
Before you sign a 2027 order, price your own spare plan. First, decide whether you want a full-size Hummer EV spare tire at all. This is a small change on paper, but it matters to one kind of buyer. If you drive the Hummer EV pickup mostly on pavement and groomed dirt, the loss is minor. Anyone planning remote trips now owns the spare and recovery plan.
