2027 Maverick FX4 Package Overview

The Maverick FX4 package changed shape for 2027. Ford no longer sells it as a standalone option. Instead, it comes bundled inside the XLT 302A equipment group, according to Ford Authority’s guide to every available package. The dealer page lists this group as a 2.0L EcoBoost with all-wheel drive.

Previously, FX4 required the XLT Luxury Package and came with an 18-inch wheel. Now it no longer requires Luxury. In addition, every 2027 truck with FX4 ships on 17-inch Carbonized Gray painted aluminum wheels, per Ford Authority’s report on the changes.

Ford’s 2027 technical specifications were not available, so the clearance and towing figures below come from the 2026 sheet. Because FX4 trucks ship on all-terrain tires, our guide to driving washboard roads pairs with the hardware list below.

The package ships on all-terrain tires, so pressure habits matter. Airing down helps on loose gravel. However, the highway drive home requires full pressure again. For example, the AstroAI AIRUN H tire inflator runs from a 12V outlet and stops at a set pressure. Next, the VIAIR 88P is a 12V portable air compressor kit. Meanwhile, the AstroAI digital tire pressure gauge reads up to 150 PSI.

What the Maverick FX4 Package Includes

Ford Authority lists the content below for the FX4 package. Dealer Bowen Scarff’s 2027 Maverick page matches the main items.

Item Details
Tires and wheels All-terrain tires on 17-inch Carbonized Gray painted aluminum wheels
Suspension Performance suspension
Underbody Skid plates and exposed front tow hooks
Driver aids Hill Descent Control and an off-road screen in the instrument cluster
Drive modes Slippery, Eco, Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul and Off-Road
Cooling Higher-capacity radiator and upgraded cooling fan
Spare Conventional 17-inch spare tire (215/70R17)
Badging FX4 Off-Road box decal

Skid plates protect the underbody, and Hill Descent Control holds speed on steep descents. Likewise, the upgraded cooling hardware supports slow climbs and towing. Also, a conventional spare replaces a damaged tire without the speed limits of a temporary one.

However, neither source names a tire brand or tire model for the all-terrain tires. If tire choice matters to you, ask your dealer before you order.

Maverick FX4 Package Pricing and the 4K Tow Package

Bowen Scarff lists the XLT 302A at $31,545 MSRP. It calls the 302A only $800 more than the front-wheel-drive hybrid XLT 300A at $30,745, although the 302A also adds the EcoBoost engine and all-wheel drive. In addition, destination adds $1,845, and the dealer excludes tax, title, license and a $200 doc fee.

However, Ford Authority’s guide cites $30,745 as the price of the cheapest EcoBoost Maverick. The dealer assigns $30,745 to the hybrid XLT 300A. Because the two sources disagree, and Ford Authority says 302A pricing has not been released, treat $31,545 as the working figure and confirm it with your dealer before you budget.

The 4K Tow Package costs $995 and is now offered on its own. It adds a trailer brake controller, a Class III hitch with a 2-inch receiver, 4-pin and 7-pin connectors, an upgraded cooling fan and a conventional spare. Hybrid trucks also get a transmission oil cooler. Also, the dealer page says the package no longer requires Ford Co-Pilot360.

Altogether, the 302A plus the tow package reaches $32,540 MSRP, or $34,385 with destination. Also, Ford’s 2026 spec sheet rates standard towing at 2,000 pounds and 4,000 pounds with the package.

FX4 vs. Tremor: What the Extra Money Buys

The dealer page lists the Maverick Tremor 602A at $37,155, a $5,610 gap over the 302A. Ford’s 2026 spec sheet lists 9.1 inches of clearance for the Tremor AWD and 8.3 inches for the EcoBoost. In short, the Tremor adds 0.8 inch of clearance and Advanced 4WD hardware. The dealer page also says the Tremor includes all Lariat content, the Lariat Luxury Package and an off-road suspension.

However, power does not change. Every factory 2.0L trim, including the Lobo and Tremor, makes the same 250 horsepower, according to our report on the Tucci twin-turbo V8 Maverick. By comparison, the Lobo AWD has 7.4 inches of clearance, 0.9 inch below the EcoBoost AWD.

Towing also differs. The 2026 sheet lists the Tremor and Lobo at 2,000 pounds. In contrast, the tow package on other trims reaches 4,000 pounds. Ford Authority’s guide lists the package as a standalone option on the XL, XLT and Lariat, and the dealer page marks the 2027 ratings preliminary. Because of this, confirm the rating on your trim.

What This Means for You

If you drive gravel, forest roads and snowy trailhead lots, the 302A covers the job. Specifically, the 302A adds skid plates, all-terrain tires and Hill Descent Control. The dealer page puts the cost at $800 above the front-drive hybrid. Hybrid XLT trucks do not get FX4 in the sources reviewed.

If you tow, add the tow package to the 302A and watch payload. The all-in price is $34,385 with destination. Our payload guide explains how passengers, gear and tongue weight add up. Specifically, camping gear plus tongue weight counts against your payload.

Because the FX4 package includes exposed front tow hooks, pair them with recovery gear, and check your owner’s manual for rated recovery points. For example, the NEIKO 51005A is a heavy-duty tow strap. Next, a Rhino USA folding survival shovel measures 22 inches when extended. Likewise, the NOCO Boost GB40 jump starter handles a dead battery at the trailhead.

If you want the most clearance, the Maverick Tremor lists 9.1 inches in Ford’s 2026 sheet, the highest figure among the trims compared here. However, the $5,610 gap covers 0.8 inch of clearance, Advanced 4WD, an off-road suspension and Lariat content, with no extra power. Also, buyers who plan to change tires or wheels later pay $5,610 less with the 302A.

The dealer page also lists a Bronze Appearance Package at $1,595 for the XLT 301A and Lariat 501A. Ford Authority says it bundles 19-inch bronze wheels, black exterior trim and the tow package, but not the FX4 package.

Final Thoughts

The XLT 302A is the Maverick to choose for gravel roads, snow and light trail use. In addition, it places the FX4 hardware in one group, $800 above the hybrid XLT per the dealer page. It also removes the Luxury Package requirement.

The Tremor makes sense if clearance or Lariat content drives your decision. Otherwise, the extra $5,610 buys little you notice on a gravel road.

Before you order, confirm three numbers with your dealer: the 302A price, the tow rating on your trim and the tire size. Then add the tow package only if a trailer is in your plans.
