Warn 10000 lb synthetic rope vs steel cable?

Any winch nerds here? In terms of benefits, synthetic is just safer option right? If a synthetic rope breaks, the break carries less harmful energy than the steel cable counterpart right? I was looking into this, this morning as I thought synthetics big appeal was the look and possible the weight savings. Turns out there is much more to this. So with synthetic rope, would you still use the weighted winch blanket?

Yeah, those are the big selling points. But to answer your question, yes, you still use a winch blanket. Always use one IMHO.
