What coating would you use on a bed liner made from wood?

I should clarify, I'm talking about floor in my bed only. I want something that is comfortable for my kids to sit in there at the river and fish from. However I want something that is durable as well. And in case something like gas or diesel spills on it, I want something that can be cleaned easily as well. Any ideas of what you would coat a sheet of plywood with? Which by the way is what I'm going to use for the floor.

Maybe linseed oil to help keep the plywood durable? Why did you choose plywood? I think it won't last long and will also look a bit out of place back there.

Why don't you. take some kind of a removable cushion and only use it when you kids are sitting back there?
