Try cooking on 50 cal fire pit?

Hey have you tried cooking on one of those 50 cal fire pits? Looking to cut down large gear in my truck. I want something that I can cook on, and these small fire pits check off those boxes. But can you cook on them?

You could, but that isn't a lot of cooking space, and the little lava stones and entire thing will become greasy super fast. Might become an additional fire hazard with all the grease on it. I wouldn't cook on it.

That's going to be MESSY. Get something that is intended for cooking on.

It'll be fine. Give the fire pit that "Charred Meat" smell. Every time you fire it up, people think your having a BBQ. What could go wrong.

What would be real cool is if you can put a steel plate on it and market it as a "Skottle Alternative".
HMM....rectangle plate with a recess in the center, flame goes around the outside..............
Gawd, don't need another project.
