Securing gear on flatbed trailer??

So we have been using a flatbed trailer to bring our overland gear with us. The problem is, when we get off the pavement and onto the bumpy offroad, our tie downs always seem to fail. If we are using rope, that flexes. If we are using bungee cords, those break or flex as well. UNLESS we use a ridiculous amount of tie downs, which becomes a PITA to untie all of these.

What are you using to tie down your gear with?

What do you mean tie downs? I would imagine something like a ratchet strap should do the job just fine.

We've been using rope slip knots. Not the best, but it works.
