Pakmule cargo carrier with Gladiator and tailgate?

I need more storage, and found this Pakmule cargo carrier, however I have one concern. All the photos that I can see, it's on Wranglers with doors that open by swinging out. Will something like this work with tailgates? Their porch unit, will that extend further than the tailgate allowing you to step on that, then the tailgate?

If you want to still use the tailgate I would suspect that you will need to mount all the big items such as a cooler as far back as possible to give space for the tailgate to open.

There is a photo of a 200 series land cruiser on the site with it's split tailgate open and the split tailgate overlaps the rack
