How to make JL hood vents functional?

Have any of you tried and succeeded with making your hood vents functional? Can you share what you did or any links that show how this can be done? Thank you for your help.

The problem with this is that it messes with the airflow that is there to keep the motor cool.

How so? Wouldn’t this increase the flow of air and allowing the motor to run cooler?

It would look cool, but I think it would create unwanted airflow and dust.
