How are you cleaning your water containers for drinking?

The containers that you use for your drinking water, how are you cleaning these and keeping it good for drinking water?

I empty completely and leave the lid off so they evaporate out.
If you fill them with unfiltered water (hose water), bacteria is slow to form. I fill mine with filtered water so I need to make sure their completely dry before I put them away.
