Breaking lose heavily rusted bolts on frame?

I'm helping my neighbor work on a 1979 Chevy pickup that he is going to convert to an overlanding rig. There are some badly rusted bolts on the frame we are trying to break lose. We've tried WD40 and it's not working. We just damaged a head to one bolt and will need to possibly cut that bolt now.

How do you address heavily rusted bolts?

Hey mate, you will probably need to drill them out which can be a bit of a pain but that's how it goes with old trucks!

The next step would be heating it up with a torch. If it still persists I would just drill it out

Did you try heating the bolt up and tapping with a hammer while trying to turn it?

Drilling out should be last resort, that will be a PITA to repair and reuse after. Are you using an impact wrench or socket by hand?
