Are snow chains worth carrying during winter? They are heavy and take space

It depends where you are heading and what types of trail you are tackling. If you stick to easy trails withoyught much snow probably not. If you are heading far up north then yes it may be a good idea. Remember that in deep snow chain do not really do anything. They just dig down

If you are heading in an area you know there is really deep snow then yes they are worth it
