The past week has given us plenty of new vehicles, from the Ford Maverick to the 300 series Landcruiser. Today, we are having a look at the all-new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee – Jeep’s luxurious answer to Range Rover and Toyota. Like most 4WDs out there the Cherokee got more luxurious and less capable as the years progressed. Now it is a car that will keep you and your family relaxed but could still get you on some dirt roads for a mild adventure.Â
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Exterior
Design-wise the new model looks more aggressive than the old one. The seven slotted grille and narrower headlights help keep the vehicle’s design up to date. Rated tow hooks at 1.5 times the vehicle’s weight are available upfront and an overland trim will be offered. The overland trim level will offer 18-inch wheels which will allow for a slightly larger sidewall on the Goodyear wrangler’s A/T it comes with.Â
The Grand Cherokee’s Engine
There are two engine options. The standard engine is a 3.6L V6 with 293 horsepower. However, if you have the spare cash go for the second engine which is a 5.7L V8 producing 357 horsepower and nearly 400 lb-ft. Horsepower numbers are pretty low for a 5.7L V8 but it does mean that the engine is under-stressed; therefore, it may last for longer. An 8 speed automatic transmission takes care of the shifting.Â

AWD Systems on the All-New Jeep
There are three drivetrain options. The list starts with the base 2WD version and as you progress in options and pricing you gain AWD, low-range and on the top of the line an ELSD which can send up to 100% of the power to the rear wheels.Â
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee TowingÂ
The Grand Cherokee is rated to tow up to 7200 pounds; therefore, if you want to take a camper trailer on your adventures you will have no issues at all.
Interior Features of the Grand Cherokee
The model we are looking at today is the Grand Cherokee L and this one is the first Cherokee to be offered as a 7-seater. The rest of the interior looks far more premium than the previous generation. Three displays take care of all the systems and as long as you keep your hands on the steering wheel it will follow the road and steer on its own. The U Connect system works great as it has always been; however, it is now updated and runs faster with brighter colors. The screen will also tell off-road-related information such as steering angle pitch and roll, engine temps, which setting the select terrain system is in, and if the transfer case is in low range or not. Wireless charging, USB, USBC, and 12V are also available in the center console. Captain seats are available at the back and the third row can easily accommodate adults. Trunk space with the third-row seats down is endless and even with them up there is still plenty of space. The Grand Cherokee is a great SUV for a large family that enjoys adventures or long roadtrips. The powerful engines will make highway cruising a breeze and the more premium 4WD systems mean that the Cherokee will be able to take you down the beaten path. Overall, an appealing vehicle.Â
