What do you do when lightning comes and you are camping?

When you get caught out in a storm and there is lightning, what do you do?

Set up a pointy metal rod in the camp across from us?
I've been within 20 yards of four lightning strikes while backpacking, three of those were above the tree line. Being exposed we just moved our packs to another spot and didn't make us the highest point.
In my vehicle, I just don't worry about it at all. For me, the lightning isn't as bad as dealing with the accompanying heavy rain or hail storm.
They definitely make the trip more exciting.
