Removing and storing topper for Toyota Tacoma

My brother on Saturday just picked up a new Toyota Tacoma and is looking to pick up a topper for it. But he doesn't want it on all the time. I recommended to look at one of those garage hoist things, but know nothing about them. I jumped on Amazon and it turns out there are a number of them. So just checking is that what everyone does when they want to take off and on all the time? Are these hoists safe? He has 3 young kids, and obviously needs that to be secure.

He hasn't bought a topper yet, but literally trying to figure out next move. Thank you for any suggestions.
