Question about maintaining title integrity on old truck build?

What is the minimum amount of the original body of a truck that must be utilized in order to maintain the title? I'm looking at a 1977 Jeep rebuild and playing around with some ideas.

realistically, your suppose to have both vin locations intact. I believe the only time you really need that is if the vehicle has to be inspected before registration because you don't have the pink slip. When I built my old Baja Bugs, we cut the front off, losing the firewall vin and were fine with the one on the pan. This was Calif also. Don't know if its diffrent where you live.
