Is there a point in having two spare tires?

I've been watching the Aussies drive around with the dual spares and was wondering if it is worth having them. To me it seems a bit overkill and pointless as they will add a lot of weight to the vehicle. Any thoughts?

No, I don't think so. The only reason I would see having two spare worth it is if you are heading remote into Alaska or deep into South America

No I don't think there is point. Extra weight and lost space that could have been used for other more useful stuff
