Moving from 4.11 to 4.88 gears, costing $2485, is that a fair price or ???

That's how much I was quoted today and honestly I'm not sure.

I like Yukon's and depending on the kit, your looking at 500-900 in parts. That means 1400 in labor. If his labor rate is 100 and hour, 14 hours is a bit much. I'm assuming its a newer jeep. I haven't done a gear set on a newer one but, I cant imagine it being any diffrent than any other Dana I've done. Most of mine took me a couple of hours to do each end.
Then again, everything doubled in price after Covid for some reason. I would probably call around. Gear sets really aren't hard to do.

I would get a quote from at least 3 shops, you should be able to find a gear swap for $1700-$1800 bucks.

+1, shop around, 100% you will find a better price. If you can get in the scope of $1800, you are in good shape.
