Thats what we had done when we picked up ours. Best investment, not sure how it comes off if it ever needed, but it does what it supposed to. First van we had we didn't do this and we had all sorts of rock chips on the hood. Not the current one. So, yeah it works.

There was a guy on another board I use to belong too who took his airbox apart and removed his filter during storage and didn't put back, who went traveling to Brazil for 3 months. He came back and mice had built a nest in where the filter belongs.

A friend of mine has one of their Mark 2s being used in their van during summer months. Much more efficient to run than their roof AC unit.
