IFS for rock crawling? Can they do it?

They can but they are sketchy and brake stuff. No where near as capable when the going gets really tough. I would stick with solid axles in this case
 
Not really mate. They can do the easier stuff but won't be able to tackle the proper hard core rock crawling
 
They can but not the very tough rock crawling tracks the proper solid axle crawlers do. They do not have the articulations and they are much harder to fit big tires on
