BFG Mud terrains vs all terrains. Is the difference that significant?

I am contemplating between getting BFG Mud terrain tires or All terrain. It is a RAV4 so I want to give it every chance possible off road; therefore, I am leaning towards the mud terrains. Yet again, it is a good car on road and I do not want to make it noisy.

Is there really a big difference between Mts and Ats? Are they worth the noise penalty?

On a cross over I wouldn't put mud tires mate. It isn't really worth it as the main reason you are buying it is comfort and fuel economy. If you want more capability I would sell the rav4 and put some extra money towards a 4runner

There is a difference but it isn't huge. The biggest difference is when going from a normal off road tire to something like a maxxis trepador which you obviously won't run on a rav4.

I think the best choice for you is an all terrain
