Do you carry a generator in your rig?

With large portable batteries all the rave, does anyone still carry generators around with them? We have a Goal Zero 1500x and only downside is when it's cloudy, then we can't charge it back up. Which does happen often.

If we do get a generator, whats a good one that is quiet and doesn't take up much space?

I haven't run a generator for about 20 years. I also don't have much in the way of power draw. My batteries are good for a solid week if the big fridge is on (55qt), longer for the 30qt. That's assuming I have no sunlight.
I know there's some small portable generators that make very little sound. I guess if I camped long enough to run out of power, that would be an option.

We have some kitchen appliances that we have in our van that chew up some decent power. So we will need something to charge batteries. Do you happen to know what is a good brand of generator?

Generac is a good brand, Champion is another one and if you have Harbor Freight around you, they even make a decent generator
