In the winter, make sure any tent you buy, build, or assemble has good ventilation because humidity will quickly become a major issue, making everything damp and keeping you cold.

Invest in a high-quality bag designed for cold temperatures. Bag pad, you must have a pad on which to lay your bag; in cold weather, you cannot sleep in a bag that is laying on a tent floor or the ground because you will feel the cold of the ground, ice, and/or snow through the bag. This occurs because when you lie in a bag, you compress the bag filler, necessitating the use of an air gap as an insulator. Anyway, a couple of heavy wool horse blankets folded over work well.

Wool insulates very well, and it also does not burn well, making it ideal for a wrap around a campfire. Polar fleece is almost as good as wool except that it burns, but it is lighter.

Do not forget to stay hydrated, even if you're camping in the dead of winter. Do not go alone and learn to recognize the symptoms of hypothermia and frost bite, as well as what to do and what not to do.

Just to be clear, a tent will not keep you warm in extremely cold weather. A tent will hold some heat if you have a heat source. In most cases, however, you will be the only heater in your tent. (Body Temperature) That’s all.

Tents are excellent windbreaks. That is why you always buy the best equipment you can afford. I'm referring to a high-quality down sleeping bag. That is where you get your warmth. Winter or four-season tents, as previously stated, provide an excellent wind/rain/snow barrier. Their primary function is to keep you out of the wind, rain, and snow.

Least I forget, and they're also your best bet against insects. Mosquitoes, ticks, biting fly and even wasps and bees.
