On a long expedition, imagine crossing Africa for example, which parts are most prone to failure. I would guess suspension and wheel bearings.

What does everyone else think? What spare parts must be taken? And can a 30 year old truck handle the abuse?

I am not going on such a trip anytime soon. However, I am definitely day dreaming

Yep suspension and wheel bearings are the most common. You then have axles, alternators (if you drive through mud) and that's about it. All the other are major failures tha you can't really take parts for and happen very rarely

Suspension parts for sure. If you are doing tough tracks axles also brake and in hot climates you may have issues with overheating
