Keep Jerry Cans from freezing?

I know we are coming to the end of the cold season, but my dad and I were just talking about this. He had one of his Jerry Cans get damaged from freezing this winter and was asking on how to keep this from happening. Honestly this is above my pay grade. Would you happen to know how to keep Jerry Cans from freezing in cold weather?

They have heating pads that you can use on these that run off 12V

Their motorhome grey water tank heaters. 12v pads. I use them for my propane tanks when its cold out.
