Getting started in fly fishing

I don't suppose any of you fly fish? I've been wanting to get started but not sure where to even start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gear? Videos (to learn), and anything else you can think of would be great.

Never have tried, but I do enjoy dropping a line off the side of the boat. An old friend of my father, years ago would make his own fly fishing lures. I watched him making these when I was kid, it's definitely a time consuming passion.
