Any firewood alternatives for campfires during overlanding?

I know this most likely reads like a "what the heck are you talking about" sort of question, but I'm going to ask regardless. Wood is so bulky to bring, and sometimes tough to find for sale. Are any of you bringing things like duralogs? or what?

Bring a saw or an ax with you and get your fuel in the field

LOL I figured someone was going to say an ax. But do you ever bring those burn long logs so you don't need as much wood?
