Using a trailer to mount your rooftop tent vs mounting on truck?

Have any of you bought a small trailer to mount your tent on and store gear vs using your main truck? My wife wants me to look at this so we don't make our main truck less day to day driveable. Any thoughts?

In my opinion this is the best option. It does not way down your truck so it saves fuel and keeps the truck capable on the trails. You also do not have to drive around woth the tent on top all the time. I would definately go for it

Yep, a little bit on the heavy side. Schultz makes a good trailer too if you are after small trailer

Great idea. Rooftop tents just sit on roofs without being used for the majority of time and all they do is add weight. When you have it on a trailer you only carry it around when you need it.

Furthermore, you can setup basecamp and hit the tough trails in the area again without having the weight and hight drawback of the rooftop tent
