Solid axle vs independent suspension camping trailer?

When it comes to suspension on an offroad trailer, which is better: solid axle vs independent suspension? My wife green lighted getting a trailer and I'm noticing some have solid axles and others have some level of independent suspension going on.

Is one better than the other on a trailer?
