Rivian R1S for overlanding??

Have any of you considered one of those electric trucks for getting off grid? We are putting some serious thought into getting one, but keep getting hung up on how to power up prior to jumping into trails.

That's going to be a SICK truck, but yeah, I agree about the charging situation. It's not like you can carry spare charge like you can with a fuel rotopax.

The potential exists. Range will be a huge issue as you need to factor that the car will be loaded and on rough terrain. This means it will drain it's batteries far quicker

I hope to contribute to this discussion towards end of this year when the long range batteries become available for R1S! But from a generalization standpoint, I'm banking on these will be great for getting out with camping.

the technology isn't there yet mate. I would wait 5-10 years before I start thinking of an EV for overlanding

What? If they put the charging stations at trail heads, people should have enough range to get off grid enough.
