Are rear canopy conversions worth it?

I am thinking of converting the rear of my 79 series land cruiser into a canopy but I am not sure if it is worth it. The main issue I find with these conversions is the weight they add on the back. The trucks always seem to rear heavy and do not perform well on tough tracks.

Any idea or recommendations? Maybe something in the middle? Half canopy half bed so I ca keep it lightweight?

I don't like them either mate for the same reasons. I think the best bet is to get. half canopy which distributes the wight nicely.
