What is widest camper trailer can be to legally driven on U.S. highways?

How wide can these be from a legal standpoint to pull in the states?

That must be for a commercial trailer. I can't even imagine an 8' wide camper and how much of a PITA that would be to tow around!

Those Overkill trailers were a good solution for not needing to go wide as they had those slides in them. I can't imagine towing a trailer around that was 7-8 wide!

Why wide? You want something that is going to follow or narrower than your tow rig

At the time I was looking at some trailers that happened to be very wide. I've shifted my aim at possibly a Turtleback or Patriot which both have foot print much closer to my Jeep.
