Tube doors and security on Jeep?

Tube doors are fun, not the best for little kids. My neighbor has a 4Door JK and put tube doors on, while driving somewhere, his son found entertainment of throwing his matchbox cars out the door onto the road as they were driving. He estimates 30 cars were tossed.

I don't see the purpose of doors like this for long term. If you get caught out with rain, that truck is going to give you no protection from the rain.
