Supposed to clean a diesel heater??

We bought a diesel heater last winter and now realizing we just left it in the garage with fuel still in it. I thought I read that diesel fuel will last longer than gas, but it's been sitting for nearly 8 months. Will this need to be cleaned or something before attempting to start?

Yeah I would empty out as much as that fuel as you can, then pour new in it along with additive and fire it up and run it for a good 30 minutes on high

I was told to periodically run some kerosine through it. I got mine used and did that right off the bat. This reminded me that I also still have fuel in mine.

Oh yeah, kerosene will do the trick. Actually you mix kerosene with the diesel fuel all the time. That will prevent the fuel from gelling up in colder weather as well. Plus it runs cleaner.

+1 and as I recall from video from this site, stay away from the kerosene clone fuel. Apparently the guy that does the videos on this site used it in one of his heaters and it didn't run.
