Roof rack - bolt to frame or clamp style??

Those of you that have roof racks, did you make the leap towards a bolt to frame (which requires drilling through roof) or did you go with the lesser weight rated clamp style?

My question back to you is, how is your roof configured.

On my Cruiser, if I had installed mine using the factory mounts to the roof, the roof wasn't designed to hold any real weight. My side gutters are strong and I can spread the load better. Clamp to them
Cant do that on my Tacoma. No gutters. I would be forced into a roof mount.

Quite a few modern vehicles don't have gutters and some that do, are only strong enough to channel rain.

Don’t have, but always been skeptical of those clamp style roof racks. Just doesn’t seem safe if you have any sort of weight up there.
