Keeping ants out of your tent while camping?

OMG I'm so tired of ants in our tent and crawling on us at night. How are you keeping ants from getting in your tents?

Camp in the winter, no ants to worry about! ;)

Seriously though, my tents all have great zippers or are off the ground enough were I never have to worry about ants.

Small, slightly used piece's of peppermint candy. Place them around the tent in the next camp. If its a bit of a distance, you may need to make a "trail".
This seems to work for bears also.

Well there are several ways to keep ants out of your tent:

  1. Elevate your tent on a platform or camping cot to keep ants from crawling in through the ground.
  2. Use ant repellent sprays or natural remedies such as vinegar, lemon juice, or cinnamon around the perimeter of your tent.
  3. Store your food and trash in airtight containers and away from your sleeping area.
  4. Keep a clean campsite and remove any ant trails that you see.
  5. Consider using a tent with a sealed bottom and waterproof flooring to prevent ants from entering.
That's all I can think of at the moment. Hope this helps!
