DIY overland flatbed

I've wanted a overland flatbed for a long time and the problem is the prices of these are so outrageous. Honestly I thought the price would have started to come down on these conversions, but really not the case. I was thinking, are there any DIY overland flatbeds out there? Those that have taken this in their own hands? I'm sure there is, just hoping to see some examples here and how it turned out.
