Dry ice used in longer camping trips?

Not that I need right now, but was just thinking, doesn't dry ice last longer than real ice? Can this be used for long term?

Yes, no, sort of.
Dry ice surface temp is -109F. How cold do you want things?
I would buy my ice from an ice house. They kept the ice at -10. I would buy cubes to cover food/drinks in my two mid size ice chests. In my big chest I would put blocks with some dry ice. This would keep the blocks frozen for a couple of days in desert heat. Once the cubes were almost gone, I would break the blocks and add them as I needed.

In a covered ice chest, 1lb of dry ice lasted me about two day's. If I put the dry ice in with my food, it over froze things.
