What are you using to keep your knife blades sharp?

I have a sharpening stone, however I have no clue what I'm doing with this darn thing and swear this blade only gets duller! Particularly I'm never sure I have the right angle. What are you using or are you getting your knives professionally sharpened?

I have a grinder in my garage that is bolted down to workbench, that works amazing for pretty much what ever I have that needs to be sharpened.
