DIY fire pit - where to source 50 Cal case?

I've seen replicas on Amazon if you don't have a surplus store near by. I've made a few of them and there's a build thread I posted here somewhere. My burners are 1/2 pipe. If you find my build thread, cut the number of holes down by half and see how you like it. Its easier to add more if...

How long water needs to be boiled to purify?

Clear water doesn't mean clean water. What he did was remove the nasty parasites and disease. One of the chemicals he used caused the heavier material to drop to the bottom. The others were to kill living things. I would still filter the hell out of that water after I boil it. My question is...

The Grenadier diesel engine for USA market

If we did it would be much later. The diesel they use is not built for American emissions. This means they need a separate diesel just for the American market. This is the same reason most world diesel vehicles don't come here.

Are you currently using Ride Dog?

It doesn't work. The transmitter is also low power. That means no connection in low bar areas also.

What do you think of the Bora spacers on your truck?

I haven't run that brand but have been around others. Mostly as long as its a good company, its hard to screw up spacers. Ideally, don't go much over an inch. Your not adding anymore stress to your hub assembly than you would with offset rims. Anything over an inch changes your steering...

Are you currently using Ride Dog?

Its cellular GPS tracking. You get a 12 month contract when you sign up. After that its monthly. If your battery gets disconnected, the unit sends you a text, informing you. This is how the old Lojack systems worked. The difference being, Lojack had a small battery attached in the event power...

Such thing as Perfect HP for off-roading?

NO. If the person actually understood what they were arguing, they never would have made that statement. Its all about math. Modern, stock vehicle HP/TQ numbers are good for general off roading. It's when you start building for competition or serious toys is when these numbers change. As we go...

    Kimberley Kampers Kube teardrop

The site is incredibly vague about the build. Even though its a bit big for my taste. I do like the layout. What kills it for me is they say its Lightweight and no wood was used. Then you look at what it weighs. 2500# dry and 4300# outfitted. Tongue weight is 300#-400# depending on options. I...

All cast iron pans the same?

Not the same. Quality of the iron and casting is the difference. I use Lodge.

Sparks Motors World’s First Cybertruck On tracks

Is that street, dirt or both? To me, the suspension was not designed for what we do but more along the lines of adverse conditions on the street. I put these in the same category as an AWD car.

Campers and those leaving trash on the ground

Totally agree. One of the desert campgrounds out became a collage party spot when the government shut everything down during Covid. No one to take out trash or supervise, they just left huge piles of trash. Lately, the number of people camping in my area has dropped. Hopefully those types will...

    Teardrop clearance for off-road?

I've only gotten out a couple of times this winter. Camping wise its a bust. The last two day trips were ok. Last month I was doing a winching/extraction class. The wind blew so hard I had to end it. Didn't even want to stay the night. last weekend was our Calico trip. It rained, hard, so that...

    Alternator upgrade for my Toyota

I show a 130 amp and a 150 amp with towing package. Factory Hairpin design. Going to the 250 amp (again) make sure its the hairpin design. Most of the high output guys run that but you never know. Output wire will be a 2 gauge if you can, 4 gauge will work if its short. As to the horse power...

    Alternator upgrade for my Toyota

What year, model and engine size. I'll look up what you have at work. My 19 Tacoma has a 150 amp, Cruiser had an 86 amp and now has a 250 Amp. "If" you go to something higher output. 1. Make sure its a "Hairpin" design. That's factory in my Tacoma 2. The output lead will need to be bigger. 3...
