Tailgater tire table rusting when exposed to rain?

A number of years ago, I had this table that attaches itself to any one of my tires. But the thing started to rust only after a few months. Would you happen to know how these Tailgater Tire tables hold up to rain and rust?

I don't have a experience with them, but have you though about painting it? It will protect the surface
