Is there a way to mount a roof top tent on a quick release system?

I want to mount my rooftop tent on a quick release system so I can remove it whenever I am using the car around the city or motorway and not camping. I mean it feels like a waste to carry all that weight for no reason.

Has such thing be done before? Any brand sold products that would make this possible?
