Is the Toyota Landcruiser 200 series a good base for an overland that can also tackle some tough trails?

It's a great vehicle for overriding but I believe it's size and weight are huge drawbacks off road. It struggles to fit on trails and they do break CV joints when pushed

Agree, weight is a bit on the heavy side. I would go to 80 series.

They are not too good in the tough stuff. Too wide and heavy. Brilliant overlanders though!
