Stay put, stay out of fields or where you would be the highest point. Don't lay on the ground. Your car as I understand can be a safe spot.

Good question. Stay away from trees, one because they might fall due to wind and two because of the lighting. The safest place to sleep I would say is in the car

But if you are in your car, you would still be possibly the highest point right? Actually what happens to a car when it gets hit by lightning?
